Garden Blooms

To Make a Snood:

Enough material to cut out a 15 inch (down) by 14 inch (across) piece of material. It should be slightly oblongish.
Enough narrow lace to be able to go around the oblong shape.

Step 1:
Turn in a rolled hem. Then stitch around the turned in hem.

Step 2:
Sew your lace using small delicate stitching. Every now and then make a 'tuck' so the lace will sit flat on the curves. The lace is sewen to the right side of the snood.

Step 3:
Use a gathering stitch on the inside of the lace to gather up the snood. You might need to play around with adjusting the gathers so they look nice. You can also use thin elastic for this step, as I have none, I'm using gathering stitch.

Then add a nice decoration like a satin ribbon or flower at the top and you're done. On the inside of my snood where the flower is I glued in a hair comb so I can hold my snood into place. You can just use hair slides or bobby pins too.

Now all I have to do is grow my hair long again so I can wear my Snoods. Keep in mind this is how I made up my snoods, it might not be the correct way, but the finished results looks like a snood.

I hope everyone is having a good day or evening where ever they are

  1. Snoods! A blast of high fashion from the 1940's. My girls tell me that the 1940's retro look is coming back into fashion - nothing new under the sun hey?!

    1. Phil,
1940's fashion is very big in some circles now. I like the era too. Snoods were also popular in the 1800's. Especially crochet ones.
